1.15.0

Latest

What's new

  • Roll the mouse wheel over a stream to turn it up or down, in the grid or on a channel page, and the level shows on the picture as it changes. Turn it on in Settings, under Player, and pick how much each notch moves it: 1, 2, 5 or 10 percent.
  • Settings now opens on a short list: General, Keyboard, Voice, Player, Grid and channel points, Break reminders and Your data. Each line says how that page is set, so you can see your choices at a glance, and a click opens the page. Back, or Escape, returns to the list.
  • Names in another alphabet, stream and video titles, and a channel's About section and panels can show up in your language - in chat, the sidebar, cards, channel pages, the grid and the Live tab. Turn each on in Settings, under Chat, Translate. Point at one, or hold Alt, to see it as written.
  • The Audio tab now lists every stream the Loudness Equalizer remembers, with the level it settled on and when you last heard it. Turn any of them up or down 2 dB at a time, even when it is not playing, or forget one so it is learned again.

What's fixed

  • Turning down the volume of a muted stream in the grid no longer makes it audible. It stays muted.
  • Channels whose names are written in another alphabet, such as Japanese or Korean, now open, play in the sidebar preview and work with Chat, Grid, Favorite and Hide. They also show up once in the Live tab instead of twice.
  • Saying or typing louder or quieter for a stream is now always remembered for next time. A change made a few seconds into a stream could be lost.

1.14.0

What's new

  • The Help Center is rebuilt as short chapters, one for each thing you want to do, each opening with the feature working on a page that looks like Twitch. Ask a question in your own words at the top, and flip the real switch right under the explanation. Every topic is still there, folded at the end of its chapter.
  • The overlay chat has a background blur control in its header, next to opacity. Turn the opacity down, then click, drag or scroll on it to soften the stream behind the chat. A double-click turns it on or off. The stream is not blurred if your system is set to reduce transparency.
  • Bold, text size, opacity and blur now sit together in one strip in the chat header, showing just their icons. Point at the strip to see every value, and click, drag or scroll on one to change it as before. Double-clicking them no longer does anything.
  • Twitch's new Continue Watching row on the front page can now be hidden. Turn on Hide Continue Watching in Look, Home & Browse. Your watch progress is kept, and the videos are still on each channel's Videos tab.
  • Mute or highlight someone, or mute a word, from a line in the merged feed: click the button at its right edge. All rules sit in one list under Feed and Rules in Chat settings, work in YouTube and Kick columns, and are backed up. Each highlight can carry its own colour and sound. An old highlight sound stays on.
  • Someone's first message in a channel now carries a First message tag in the merged feed, so a new chatter is easy to greet. Write a rule with first:chat to highlight or hide them. The tag can be switched off in Chat settings.
  • When someone gifts a pile of subs at once, the merged feed shows the one notice with a count of recipients instead of a line per gift. Point at the count to see who got one. A gift to you still gets its own line.
  • Keep up with one person in a busy chat: click the button at the right edge of their line in the merged feed and pick Spotlight. The feed shows only their messages, earlier ones included, until you click the pill beside Mentions. Add more people to the same pill to follow a conversation.
  • In the grid, the stream you are listening to gets the best picture, and the others only what their cell needs, so the stream with sound is the last to drop on a slow connection. Hover a cell to see its quality, or click it to pick your own.
  • A new Player group in Look hides what sits on top of the video: extensions, the dark background behind the controls, the muted audio and "Intended for certain audiences" notices, and any of the Clip, Streamline chat, Settings, Captions, Theatre Mode and Cast buttons. Each has its own switch, and the keyboard shortcuts keep working.
  • The Stream page group in Look tidies a channel page. Clean the stream info the way stream cards are cleaned, or hide About, goals, panels and Gift a Sub. A live channel can show its follower count and Videos and Schedule tabs, and panels can fill the width. Hover previews moved to Other.
  • Twitch's Browse pages can now open with the most watched streams first instead of Recommended For You. Turn on Sort Browse by viewers in the Look tab, under Home & Browse. It works on Categories, Live Channels and every category's page, and you can still pick another order under Sort by.
  • Streamline can press Twitch's bonus button for you in any chat you have open. In the grid, two streams now earn your channel points, the most Twitch credits at once: pick them with the points button on a cell, or the stream with sound earns. Both are in Settings, under Channel points.
  • Answer someone straight from the merged feed: point at their line and click the reply button beside the rules button. The message box says who you are answering, picks that line's channel and starts your message with their name. Esc drops the reply. It reaches them as a mention.
  • Hide "Followed Channels" can now keep the channels that are live and hide only the offline ones. Turn on Only offline channels under it in Look, Sidebar. A channel leaves the list once it goes offline; with it off, the whole section is hidden as before.

What's fixed

  • The Help Center now describes each setting and shortcut the way it works, in every language. The page for break reminders no longer describes a playback speed nudge that does not exist, and in French, examples such as badge:mod no longer carry a space that stopped them working.
  • A title filter rule with a question mark in it, such as what?, now hides only titles that contain that question mark. Before, it also hid titles missing the letter in front of it, the way channel and category rules never did.
  • The overlay chat's opacity no longer changes back after you reload the page. Before, setting it with a chat preset, with Reset in Chat settings or from the command palette lasted only until the next reload, which brought back the level you last set by dragging or clicking the opacity control.
  • With the overlay chat's opacity turned down, subs, raids and announcements in Twitch chat stay as readable as messages instead of fading with the controls. The Translation is on line, the language mark on translated messages, repeat counts and the buttons on notices are easier to read over the stream too.
  • Hiding YouTube's own chat, beside the video or in fullscreen, no longer takes the chat button out of the player, and the chat panel still opens.
  • YouTube and Kick chat columns now hide their header, message box, banners and scrollbar from the start when those switches are on in Chat settings, Chat Layout Clean-Up. Before, they only did after you changed one of the switches.
  • Streamline's chat button could go missing from Twitch's player controls after an ad played. It now stays in the controls you can see.
  • A streamer you hide from a Twitch page is now in your Backups snapshots straight away, not only after you next open the Streamline panel.
  • A stream typed or dropped into an empty grid cell plays with sound, and Mute all on the grid bar now says so and silences it on the first press. Before, the button still read Unmute and the first press did nothing.
  • With a light style, the chat beside a grid stream and the docked chat columns sat on black, which left chat hard to read. They now use your style's background.
  • Hide "Followed Channels" took only the section's title away and left every channel showing. It hides the whole section again.

1.13.0

What's new

  • The multiview grid now plays YouTube and Kick live streams beside your Twitch ones. Type a channel's name into an empty cell and pick YouTube or Kick from the list under it. After a few letters that list also offers the rooms linked to a Twitch channel in the grid (Chat settings, Linked Rooms) and the streams you added before, so you type a name only once. Each cell shows the channel's name, picture, viewer count and a small YouTube or Kick mark, and its Chat button opens that site's own chat, where you send under your account there. Sound focus, volume, presets and closing the grid work as they do for Twitch. A YouTube or Kick cell asks for access to youtube.com or kick.com the first time, and plays once you press Allow. Quick chat and hover previews stay Twitch only.
  • Messages in languages you do not read can now show up already translated, in place of the original. Turn on Translate chat in Chat settings, or press the translate button in any chat header, and every chat translates from then on. Right-click the button to leave a channel as written. It works in the merged feed, in Twitch's own chat, and in YouTube and Kick chat columns. Slang, emotes, names and short messages are left as written. The translating happens on your computer and no chat text is sent anywhere. Streamline asks before your browser downloads a language, and only once that language keeps turning up in chat, or you can let it download languages automatically. Point at any single message to translate just that one. Hold Alt to see what was originally written in every translated message, and let go to get the translations back. Turn on Mark translated lines to see at a glance which messages were translated. It works in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera and Firefox.
  • Show controls on hover now starts on, so the chat panel header, channel bar and message box stay out of the way until you move the pointer over the chat. To keep them showing, turn it off in Chat settings, Panel Controls.
  • Alt+V now listens for the names of channels you follow and watch, and for words you add yourself in Settings, under Words voice should know. When it runs a command on the wrong words, press Fix words, correct them in the command palette and run what you meant. From then on those words are read your way. Your list syncs to your other browsers.
  • A chat preset now saves all of your chat settings, not only the panel's size, place and feed. That includes emotes, how deleted messages show, and translation: whether it is on, the language it translates into, the languages you read and the channels you leave as written. Applying a preset leaves the channels you follow, their filters and your highlight rules alone. A preset saved before this puts the newly saved settings back to their defaults, so update it once to keep yours.
  • The Loudness Equalizer now works in the multiview grid too. Every Twitch, YouTube and Kick stream in it is leveled to the same loudness, so moving the sound from one stream to another no longer jumps. Twitch ads are turned down as soon as they start and are never turned up, and the stream comes back at its own level when the break ends. When your browser already plays a stream with sound as the page opens, the equalizer starts right away instead of waiting for your first click. Press Ctrl+K and type, or press Alt+V and say, louder or quieter to change the stream you are hearing, remembered for that channel. Quiet, Balanced, Loud and turning the equalizer off are there too. While Alt+V is listening, the stream is turned down so your voice is heard over it, and comes back up when it stops.
  • Chat skins now show in one large preview with every kind of message in it: a notice, badges, a combined repeat, a reply, a mention of you, a /me message, YouTube and Kick messages and a deleted one. Click a skin's name to switch to it and see it there.
  • Stream cards on the front page and when browsing sit in even rows of four, and you can now turn that off to get Twitch's own layout back. Look tab, Home & Browse, Four cards per row, or type four cards in the command palette. It stays on unless you turn it off.
  • The style picker now has two tabs, Dark and Light, and opens on the one your current style is on. Searching the Look tab still finds a style on the other tab.
  • In YouTube live chat, each viewer's name now has a colour of its own, the same one it has in the merged feed, so names no longer blend into the messages beside them, with bold text on or off. Channel owners, moderators and members keep YouTube's own colours.

What's fixed

  • The overlay chat can no longer be made so narrow that the buttons in its header are cut off, and it opens at that width the first time, with room left to grab the header and move it.
  • The status line in the chat panel now only says whether chat is connected. It no longer lists each channel's chat modes, such as followers-only or slow mode, beside it.
  • Buttons, selected tabs and badges filled with your style's colour now choose a text colour that reads on it: white on most styles, and dark on the bright gold, amber and mint of Onyx Gold, Espresso Roast and Boreal Aurora. Before, some showed dark text on a light style's colour while the button beside them was white, and others put white text on a bright colour. With Twitch Accents or Everything turned on, Twitch's own live badges and number badges follow the same rule.
  • Holding Alt and clicking streams on Twitch's home page now marks each pick with one outline and one number, not two nested inside each other. Pressing Alt also no longer freezes the page for a moment before your first click.
  • The Loudness Equalizer no longer adds a boost of its own, which made a stream jump louder the moment you clicked on the page. Your volume slider now works while it is on, instead of being turned back up. It evens out loudness over several seconds, so pauses and quiet moments are no longer pushed up, and Quiet, Balanced and Loud now play at the levels they are named for.
  • Picking Quiet, Balanced or Loud in the Audio tab now says which one you chose, instead of a blank placeholder.
  • Twitch's home page no longer loads with a white focus ring around one stream card, usually the seventh, that stayed until you clicked somewhere. It came from Streamline opening a shelf's Show more for you.
  • The buttons along the top of the multiview grid now fit in every language. In German, Spanish or Japanese the last one could run under the docked chat and be cut off. When the names do not fit, the buttons show just their icons, and pointing at one shows its name.

1.12.0

What's new

  • The merged feed can draw its messages in seven new shapes. Name tags puts each on a card with the name on a tab, Scrapbook on a paper slip with the name on tape, Discs opens each line with a round initial and groups one person's messages under it, Broadcast puts the name on a slanted plate like a TV caption, Timeline hangs every line off one rail, Notebook writes the chat on ruled paper, and Editorial sets it like a magazine. Chat settings, Merged Feed Lines, Chat skin, or type skin in the command palette. Your style still sets the colours, every chat panel follows the skin, and Classic brings back the lines you know. The live chat view keeps Twitch's own look.
  • Four new switches in Chat settings, Chat Layout Clean-Up, Messages: hide messages that are only emotes, only one word, or all in capitals, and messages from bots like Nightbot. They work in the merged feed and in live chat, YouTube and Kick columns included. Add your own bots to the list under the bot switch. Messages that match your highlights still show, and so do the streamer's and mods', unless a bot sent them.
  • Twitch now lets Tier 2 and 3 subscribers post GIFs in chat, and you decide how they show: as sent, Small at about emote size, Still until you point at one, or Hide to leave them out. Chat settings, Chat Layout Clean-Up, GIFs, or type gif in the command palette. It works in the merged feed, which now shows the GIF itself instead of its title, and in live chat. With Hide, a message that was only a GIF is left out.
  • You can now save up to nine overlay chat presets instead of three. The folder button in the panel header lists them all, and Alt+4 steps through every one.
  • The chat panel now opens on YouTube and Kick streams and past streams, the same as on Twitch: press Alt+1 or the chat button in the player. A channel in one of your linked rooms brings its other rooms along, and on a past stream the chat plays along with the video. The site's own chat folds away while the panel is open. Turn it on in Chat settings, Panel Controls, under Chat on YouTube and Kick, or right-click a YouTube or Kick page and choose Open Streamline chat here. Normal YouTube videos have no chat, so they get no panel.

What's fixed

  • Pressing Allow on a YouTube or Kick chat column, or in the chat panel's add-channel box, now brings up the browser's prompt straight away. Before, it only pointed you to Chat settings, Linked Rooms.
  • A message someone sends with /me now shows in the merged feed the way Twitch shows it: their name, then the text in their colour. It used to start with the word ACTION between two stray boxes.
  • Most of the videos on a channel's Videos tab stayed as empty grey boxes under a large blank gap. Each row now shows its videos, and the arrow at the end of a row brings in the next ones, as on Twitch.
  • On the Live tab, the Refresh and Twitch buttons now sit beside the search bar when the panel is wide enough, and the filter buttons always get their own line below it.
  • Every stream that passes your filters, such as a minimum or maximum viewer count, now stays on the Twitch front page at its usual size. A shelf left with one or two streams used to disappear with them, or show one card stretched across the page. A shelf your filters leave empty goes whole, title and Show all included.
  • The chat beside a stream on youtube.com no longer takes on your Streamline style after you link a YouTube room. Only the YouTube chats inside Streamline's own panels do.
  • With the chat panel faded low, pointing at it now brings back the message box and header in YouTube and Kick chat columns, the way it does for Twitch. Before, they stayed faded out, so there was nowhere to type.

1.11.0

What's new

  • Settings reads row by row now: what a setting is on the left, its switch on the right. The command palette reminder sits under the palette and says so when the palette is off. Break reminders are a switch, with the time as buttons under it, and Toolbar icon opens asks Side panel or Popup. Reset all settings asks before it acts and says how many settings on the page are changed.
  • Press Alt+V on a Twitch page and say what you want: open the multiview grid, pop out chat, chat opacity fifty, watch a channel by name. Anything you can type into the command palette you can say. Say it your own way: dock the chat on the right, chat to the right, or just to the right. The same works in German, Spanish, French and Japanese, in the language picked under Language in Settings: mach das Karussell weg, pon el chat medio transparente, déplace le chat à gauche. A misheard word will not stop it - when Streamline is only fairly sure, it asks and you answer yes or no. When it has no idea, the palette opens with your words already in it, and it remembers what you pick there for next time. Say undo to put back the last setting a voice command changed. With Answer out loud on, replies come in the most natural voice on your computer, said a few different ways rather than the same words every time. Settings, Shortcuts and voice, under Answer out loud: pick another voice, set its speed and pitch, and play a sample. Voices listed as Online sound more natural but send what is read out to your browser's speech service; Automatic never picks one. Your voice is turned into text on your own computer and never leaves it, which is why this needs Chrome, and it stays off until you turn it on in Settings.
  • Each setting in the command palette now says what it will do, like Hide channel names or Show the sidebar, with a sentence underneath saying what changes. Typing or saying the old wording still finds the same setting.
  • The Look tab opens on what you would touch first: the profiles as one control, with a line under it saying what the chosen one does, then the search, which now marks the words it matched. A group shows how many of its settings you changed, and offers Revert, only once you have changed some - it no longer says OFF for a group left as it came. Hide entire top bar and Hide entire sidebar fold the switches they cover into one line that says how many. Style scope is three buttons, with its explanation behind the info button. The stream card parts sit under their switch, and the video player delay greys out while hover previews are off.

What's fixed

  • In Spanish and French, the command palette offered to open Streamline in the side panel when it would switch to the classic popup. It now says popup.
  • A temporary hide in the Filters tab's Active Rules now shows its time left cleanly, as TEMP (3d left). The tag used to show a leftover placeholder with the time tacked on after it.
  • Typing random or random channel into the command palette put the switch that hides the dice button at the top, so pressing Enter hid the button instead of taking you anywhere. Open a random channel comes first now.
  • YouTube messages in the merged feed now roll in one at a time, at the pace people sent them, instead of landing in bursts every few seconds. Each shows up a few seconds after it was sent.
  • The Grid button no longer shows up under the search bar on your Twitch Creator Dashboard. It stays in the top bar of Twitch itself, where the multiview grid works.
  • A channel whose stream has ended no longer shows as live in the Live tab or the command palette. Opening an offline channel's page used to list it as live, with the length of its last broadcast shown as a viewer count.

1.10.0

What's new

  • A B button in every chat header, beside the text size. Press it and what people say goes bold, in the merged feed and in the live chat view alike; names go a step heavier still. Timestamps, badges and the quote under a reply stay as they are. One press covers every chat panel, and Reset on the Chat tab puts it back.
  • A chat preset now remembers whether the Mentions view was on, and puts it back when you apply the preset.
  • A channel and its linked YouTube and Kick rooms now share one chip in the chat panel: the channel's name and a count, so you can see which chats belong together. Click it to watch the channel, double-click to open it into its rooms, triple-click to put every room side by side in live chat. An opened chip folds itself again after ten seconds untouched, and its x closes the whole room.
  • The add-channel dialog is one field now. Type a Twitch name, a yt: or kick: room, or paste a channel link from any of the three, and the list under it shows what you are about to add - your channels first, then the name on Twitch, YouTube and Kick. Filters fold to one line until you want them, and open as two fields: Only show and Mute. A YouTube or Kick room added on its own asks for that site's access right there, and its chat column offers it again if it was skipped.

What's fixed

  • The chat header no longer carries a title or the dot beside it - the channel name in live chat, MERGED CHAT in the merged feed. The controls are all that is left. The live view now names its channel beside Live chat in the status row instead, and the channel chips already say which chats are in the merged feed.
  • The command palette now opens above the overlay chat. The overlay used to cover it while both were on screen.
  • A recording's chat no longer comes up empty when Mentions was left on in a live chat. The Mentions view has no switch on a recording, so it no longer applies there.
  • The highlight sound is louder. It was too quiet to hear under a stream at normal volume.
  • Lead moderators now wear a LEAD MOD badge in the merged feed, and badge:mod in a highlight or filter rule counts them as moderators. Twitch gives a lead moderator that badge instead of the moderator one, so they had been showing with no badge at all.
  • While the Mentions view is on, the lines are no longer tinted. Every line there is a match, so the tint had nothing to point out; the feed reads like any other.
  • Closing a YouTube or Kick room while you are watching it in live chat now leaves it. The chat panel used to go on showing the room you had just closed, with its chip already gone from the row.

1.9.0

What's new

  • French and Spanish join German and Japanese as supported interface languages, matching your browser automatically or chosen in Settings.
  • A streamer who is also live on YouTube or Kick has a chat there too. Chat settings, Linked Rooms: add the Twitch channel with their YouTube handle or Kick name, and those rooms join as chips whenever that chat opens. Their messages run through the merged feed, each line with a bar in the platform's colour, and live chat shows each room as its own column where you can send under your account there. Platform tags in Linked Rooms adds a YT or K icon as well. Saving a YouTube / Kick handle asks once for access.

What's fixed

  • The popout chat window and the floating chat window now change with the style. Switching between a dark and a light style used to leave their header, chips and column titles on the old one until the window was closed and opened again.
  • Editing a channel's filters from the overlay chat no longer fades the editor with the panel. Whatever the opacity is set to, the editor opens solid and readable.

1.8.0

What's new

  • Caps how many lines a second the merged feed shows: off, 2, 4 or 8, so a busy chat scrolls at a pace you can read. Chat settings, Merged Feed Lines, or type "pacing 6" in the command palette for any rate. Lines wait in a queue of about five seconds; past that the oldest are dropped and the feed says how many were skipped. A line about you and channel notices never wait.
  • New lines glide the feed to the bottom instead of jumping, so with pacing on the chat moves like a steady belt. Chat settings, Merged Feed Lines, the Smooth scrolling switch; off by default. Scrolling up with the wheel or a touch stops the glide so you can read, and the pill at the foot of the feed brings you back.
  • When several people send the same message in a row, you get one line: "Name and 7 others", the message once, and an x8 chip you can hover for every name. Chat settings, Merged Feed Lines, the Combine repeated messages switch; off by default. Only the line directly before folds, and only within ten seconds; a line that matches your highlight rules never folds.
  • A saved chat preset now carries every Merged Feed Lines setting - badges, channel names, timestamps, shading, smooth scrolling, combine repeats, buffer size and pacing - along with position, size, opacity and clean-up, so bringing one back restores the feed the way it was. A preset saved before this change restores those settings to their defaults when applied.
  • Each preset row in the header menu has an update button: one click overwrites that preset with the way the chat is set up right now, keeping its name and place. Folder button in the panel header, then the refresh icon beside a preset. No confirmation; the row's summary line repaints to show it took.
  • Press Tab in the command palette and the highlighted command is written into the field with a comma after it, so you can type the next one and run several together without spelling each out. Ctrl+K, type a few letters, Tab, type the next, Enter. Works on Twitch pages and in the Streamline panel.
  • The command palette opens with the last four commands you ran at the top, under Recent, so the things you do most are one Enter away. A toggle shows its current wording, and a typed rate, a channel or a chain is remembered too.
  • Bordeaux Noir, a dark style in deep burgundy with rose accents, and Crimson Paper, a light style on warm ivory with a cardinal red accent. Settings, Look, then pick a card; Crimson Paper sits under Parchment & Light and Bordeaux Noir under Deep Dark.

What's fixed

  • Streamline no longer asks to read your tabs. Everything it did with that permission works on the twitch.tv access it already had, so the "read your browsing history" line is gone from the install prompt. Nothing else changes: it still reaches only twitch.tv and the emote services.

1.7.0

What's new

  • The overlay chat now works on a VOD
  • Below 40% overlay opacity, and at any opacity with Show controls on hover on in Chat settings, the chat panel header, channel bar and message box fold away so only the messages sit over the stream, and unfold when you move the pointer over the panel. The message box stays on its own while you are typing in it, after the rest has folded.
  • The merged feed shows the #channel ahead of a line only when it follows more than one channel. A new Show channel names switch in Chat settings turns them off altogether.
  • Turn on Search box as a pill in the Top bar settings and Twitch's search field becomes one rounded pill that takes your style's accent while you type, with the results in a rounded panel below it.
  • Press Shift+F, use the new Fullscreen button on the grid bar, or run Fullscreen the grid from the command palette, and the whole grid takes the screen - every stream, the control bar and the docked chat, with nothing of Twitch around them. Press Shift+F or Esc to come back.
  • A new Remember the grid's streams switch in Settings, on by default, keeps the streams the grid had last time. Turn it off and every open starts fresh with the stream you are watching. Either way, the stream you are watching now goes into a free cell if it is not in the grid already.
  • Clicking the dice button now rolls a die down the page and pulls the streams on it into a vortex before opening the one it picked.
  • A new Remember the chat's channels switch in the Chat settings, on by default, brings back the channels the chat followed last time. Turn it off and every open follows the stream you are watching and nothing else.

What's fixed

  • A streamer hidden from the sidebar came back the moment you hovered a stream card, because the preview that opens on the card put an older copy of your hidden list back. It no longer does.
  • Opening the grid over a stream in theatre mode left a strip along the top and down the left where the stream showed through. The grid now covers the whole page in theatre mode.

1.6.0

What's new

  • The Chat settings are now three sections you switch between, and the overlay and text size settings show a preview of what you are choosing.
  • Streamline now supports German and Japanese. It follows your browser language, or you can pick one in Settings.
  • At 0% overlay opacity the channel bar is hidden too, leaving only the messages over the stream.
  • Save up to three overlay chat presets from the panel header and bring one back from there or from the command palette. Press Alt+4 to step through your saved chat presets.
  • Each What's New item now opens with a one-line summary. Click it to read the full note, or Expand all to read them all.

What's fixed

  • The floating chat window opened with Alt+2 no longer fades with the overlay opacity setting, so its header and channel bar stay in view.

1.5.0

What's new

  • Press Ctrl+K on any Twitch page to search your channels, your saved grid layouts, every style and every setting, then run what you find with Enter. Cmd+K on a Mac.
  • Run several commands at once from the command palette by separating them with a comma or the word and.
  • An optional Ctrl+K reminder can be shown at the bottom of Twitch pages. It is off until you turn it on in Settings.
  • Hold Alt and click streams in the sidebar or on a browse page to pick several at once, then release Alt to open them all in the multi-stream grid at the layout that fits.
  • Press M to mute every stream in the multi-stream grid, or to give the sound back to the one you were listening to. There is a Mute All button in the grid bar too.
  • Changing a stream volume with Ctrl and the arrow keys now shows the level on the stream while you change it.
  • What's New now opens over the page rather than inside the panel, so there is room to read it.

What's fixed

  • Searching the guide for a word now leads with the topic that word names, rather than one that only mentions it in passing.
  • A hidden streamer now stays hidden in the left sidebar when the sidebar is collapsed. Collapsed cards show only an avatar, and Streamline was reading the name that is no longer there, so a channel you had hidden came back as soon as you narrowed the sidebar.
  • Streams no longer come back paused after you close the multi-stream grid and open it again.

1.4.1

What's fixed

  • The chat button in the stream player is visible again under the light styles.
  • Hiding several streamers in quick succession no longer brings the earlier ones back.

1.4.0

What's new

  • Adjust the volume of any stream in the grid independently. Press Ctrl or Cmd with the up arrow to raise the highlighted stream's volume by 10 percent, or with the down arrow to lower it. A muted stream raised back to audible levels plays at its remembered volume; lowering a stream to zero silences it. This lets a caster desk and a player POV be audible at the same time.
  • A stream in the multi-stream grid that has ended now offers to be replaced. A Replace button appears on that cell, and pressing it empties the cell and puts the cursor in its channel box with your live followed channels listed underneath, ready to pick one. Streamline already knew a stream had ended and marked it Offline, but left you to clear the cell yourself. Nothing is ever swapped for you: a stream that drops out briefly and comes back keeps its place.
  • The multi-stream grid highlight cursor now crosses between windows of the same browser. Press on past the last cell and the next window with a grid open comes forward with its first cell highlighted; press back the other way and the previous grid comes forward on its last cell. While a second grid is open, the highlight ring marks the side of the grid it will cross from, so the two read as one surface.
  • Clear Grid can be undone. An Undo button appears in the grid toolbar for eight seconds after a clear and puts every stream back where it was, along with which one you were listening to. Clearing a grid you had spent a while arranging used to be one misclick away from gone, with the button sitting two along from Close.

What's fixed

  • Having Twitch open in more than one tab no longer builds a separate copy of your multi-stream grid in every one of them. Streamline remembered that a grid was open but not that it was open once, so each Twitch tab you had restored would put up its own grid over the same channels and start playing all of them at once.
  • A grid you have arranged is no longer overwritten by a grid open in another window. Both were saving over the same record, so whichever one you last touched was the one that came back and the other was gone, with nothing on screen to say it had happened. The grid you opened first is now the one that is remembered.
  • The saved presets menu now follows your visual style. Its heading, its empty state and the layout name beside each preset were painted a fixed grey that ignored the style picker, which left them washed out under the light styles and made them the only unthemed text in the grid under the dark ones.
  • The highlighted cell in the multi-stream grid can now be picked out under the light visual styles. The ring around it took its colour from the style, which on a light one made it near-black: you could see it around an empty cell and barely at all around a stream that was playing, so moving the keyboard highlight told you nothing about where it had gone. It is now a white ring with a dark edge just outside it, which stands out on a pale background and over a bright or a dark stream alike, whichever style you use.
  • A long channel name no longer breaks the name badge on a stream in the multi-stream grid. The badge grew with the name until it ran past the edge of the cell and was sliced off flat at both ends, which showed up on any name longer than about eight characters in a four by four grid. It now stays inside the cell: the name shortens with an ellipsis and hovering it shows the whole thing. In smaller cells the badge also gives up what it can spare so the name keeps as much room as possible, dropping the viewer count, then the drag handle, then the avatar, and finally showing Live or Offline as a coloured dot with its word on hover.
  • The saved presets menu now tells you what each preset holds. Every entry shows the layout it will restore and how many streams are in it, under a name that shortens rather than running past the edge of the menu. A long list of presets scrolls inside the menu instead of pushing Save Current Layout off the bottom of the screen, and Delete stays out of the way until you are on the preset it belongs to.
  • Naming a saved preset now happens in the menu itself rather than in a browser dialog box. The old dialog was drawn by the browser rather than by Streamline, could not take your visual style, and could be switched off for good by the browser's own "prevent this page from creating additional dialogs" tick. Type the name and press Enter, or press Escape to change your mind.
  • BetterTTV, 7TV and FrankerFaceZ emotes now keep working in a busy chat. Streamline was asking all three services for a channel's emotes over again on every single message that arrived, so a fast chat used up its allowance within seconds and the services began refusing Streamline outright. Emotes went missing or half-loaded, in that channel and in every other one open at the time. A channel's emotes are now fetched once.

1.3.1

What's fixed

  • Opening Twitch with the Twitch button no longer leaves the Live tab saying the page is loading for ten to fifteen seconds. Streamline now keeps checking the new tab as it comes up and shows the channel list as soon as there is one, instead of waiting for the next scheduled refresh.
  • The multi-stream grid now fills the space where Twitch's left sidebar used to be when "Hide entire sidebar" is on, which the Zen profile turns on. It used to leave a narrow empty strip down the left, as though the sidebar were merely collapsed.
  • Changing a Look setting no longer scrolls the Twitch page underneath. Every switch there ran a pass that briefly restored and re-trimmed the page, and each pass walked the page a little further down - so clicking one Clean stream cards pill on and off repeatedly marched the front page down the screen. Where you are reading now survives the change, and scrolling yourself still takes it back at once.
  • "Hide Get Bits" now takes the small indicator dot beside the button with it. The button went and the dot stayed, floating on its own in the top bar.
  • A stream card can be clicked again once its hover preview has started playing. The preview player sat over the thumbnail and swallowed the click, so a card you were watching was the one card you could not open.
  • Hover previews now start playing after 300ms instead of 800ms. If you have already set your own Video Player Delay in Look, it is left as you set it.
  • The Video Player Delay slider is now hidden while hover previews are turned off, rather than sitting under the switch that disabled it.
  • The chat button on the player bar is now as bright as Twitch's own settings, mute and fullscreen icons next to it, on light and dark alike. It used to sit a shade darker than all of them and read as unavailable. When Streamline chat is open it now marks itself in your chosen visual style's accent, instead of the same blue whichever style you had picked.
  • The multi-stream grid's toolbar no longer spills across the docked chat when the bar runs out of room. Narrowing it - by opening the docked chat, or by expanding Twitch's sidebar - now drops the button names down to their icons, and then lets the layout buttons scroll, instead of pushing controls over the chat panel. Every button keeps its name on hover.
  • The chat button no longer appears on the front page carousel, on a video, or in the moderator view. The carousel has no channel to open chat for and a recording has no live chat at all, so the button did nothing on either; the moderator view has its own chat and its own tools and is better left to them. Alt+1 still opens Streamline chat wherever it could before.
  • Chat is readable at every step of the opacity slider now, not only at the ends. Under a light style the text used to wash out to a pale grey somewhere in the middle of the slider, on a panel that was itself half gone. There are now two treatments and nothing in between: while there is still panel behind the text, the panel is what it reads against, and once you take the panel below 40% the text switches to white inside a crisp dark outline, so the words stay clear over a bright scene as well as a dark one.
  • Dragging the opacity slider now tracks your pointer exactly. Every step used to start a short fade of its own, so the panel lagged behind the number in the pill and the chat chrome shimmered on the way down.

1.3.0

What's new

  • Visual themes. A style picker in the Look tab lets you choose from curated dark and light palettes, styling Streamline throughout: the chat panels, grid and sidebar on Twitch, and the popup and guide. A header swatch shows the active style and jumps straight to it.
  • Style scope, under the style picker. It sets how far your chosen style reaches. Streamline Only, the default, styles what Streamline draws and leaves the rest of Twitch alone. Twitch Accents restyles Twitch itself as well: buttons, links, tabs, toggles and live badges all take your accent, so the whole site reads as one palette, while page backgrounds stay as Twitch made them. Everything goes further again and takes the page backgrounds, text and dividers onto your style, so Twitch matches it throughout. The Twitch logo and the warning colours are never changed at any setting, and chat name colours always keep the hue each person picked for themselves.
  • Under light visual styles with the Everything style scope selected, stream tags, filter pills and the random channel dice icon now adopt the style palette with matching backgrounds, borders and hover highlights.

What's fixed

  • Merged chat can now send messages while Twitch's own chat panel is closed. It used to answer that chat was not ready yet, for chats that had been connected the whole time.
  • The live channel suggestions under an empty grid cell no longer disappear when you click into it. They used to vanish at the moment you went to use them.
  • The overlay chat now preserves background transparency in Live chat when opacity is lowered while using light visual styles, and chat messages transition to white so they remain clear and readable against the video.
  • "Hide message input footer" now takes the message box away in both chat views. It used to remove Twitch's box on the standard feed and put Streamline's own in its place, and it never touched the box under the merged feed at all, so one switch added a composer in one view and left one standing in the other.
  • Chat transparency no longer disturbs the floating chat window. That window sits in a window of its own rather than over a video, so it was never meant to fade - but moving the slider while it was open left the chat inside it with no background at all.
  • The chat text size control now works in the floating chat window, and its readout keeps up with a size set from the Chat tab. It sat in that header and changed nothing, and it showed a click cursor instead of the drag cursor it shows in every other panel.

1.2.0

What's new

  • A gear button in the panel header opens a new Settings view. The choice between the side panel and the classic popup, and the watch-time break reminders, have moved there from the Look tab, which now only covers what twitch.tv looks like.
  • The Look tab is now four collapsible groups: Home & Browse, Top bar, Sidebar and Stream page. A closed group says how many of its switches you have changed, and each one has its own Revert that resets only that group. A search box above them filters every switch as you type, matching the description as well as the name, so typing "advisory" or "18+" finds the right one.
  • Look opens with a row of profiles: Default, Clean and Zen. One click sets every switch. Clean is the old "Apply Clean" button, unchanged. Zen goes further and removes the top bar, the recommended channels and the whole left sidebar. The three are read-only, so changing any switch moves you to "My setup", which keeps whatever you last had.
  • A new "Hide entire sidebar" switch hides Twitch's left sidebar in one go, the way "Hide entire top bar" already did for the top bar. Turning either on tidies its individual switches out of the way until you turn it back off.
  • Clean stream cards can now be taken apart. Pick which of the LIVE badge, viewer count, category, tags, verified badge and "!" title words it removes, instead of all six or none.
  • Auto-click "Show more" now expands the first shelf on the page rather than only the live channels shelf, so category and recommendation shelves open too. It skips stream descriptions, creator panels, chat and dialogs, whose "Show more" is not a shelf. It is now on by default, and you can turn it off in Look under Home & Browse.
  • Settings can put every Streamline preference back to its default in one click, and shows the installed version. Your filter rules, backup snapshots and watch history are kept.
  • An update now shows you what changed the first time you open Streamline, and the Guide has a permanent Release notes section holding the full version history.
  • The first time Streamline opens in the Chrome side panel, it points out that the inner edge can be dragged to widen it.
  • The chat text size control is now in the header of every Streamline chat panel, not just the one over the video. Popped-out chat, floating chat and the chat docked beside the multi-stream grid all have it.
  • The popped-out chat window has a header again, with buttons to float it always-on-top and to close it. Floating it was previously unreachable.
  • The Chat tab has a text size setting. The size could previously only be changed by dragging the control in an open chat panel, so it could not be set without a panel in front of you.
  • The Chat tab header now says how many chat settings you have changed from their defaults, and has a Reset that puts them all back. Your channels, your per-channel filters and whether chat is open are left alone.
  • The merged chat feed now shows subs, resubs, gifted subs, raids and announcements as their own lines, the way Twitch chat does. They were previously not shown at all.
  • Messages deleted by a moderator, and messages from someone who is timed out or banned, now update in the merged chat feed instead of staying on screen as if nothing happened. A new Deleted Messages setting on the Chat tab chooses whether they are struck through or taken out of the feed.
  • The merged chat feed now says when a channel is in sub-only, followers-only, emote-only, slow or unique-chat mode, so a channel that has gone quiet because of its own settings no longer looks like a dropped connection.
  • The merged chat feed now shows the badges beside a name: broadcaster, moderator, VIP, subscriber and a few others. They come from Twitch and can be turned off on the Chat tab.
  • The merged chat feed can show a timestamp on every message, and can tint every other line so a fast chat is easier to follow. Both are on the Chat tab and both are off by default.
  • How many lines the merged chat feed keeps is now yours to choose, from 100 up to 500. It was fixed at 180.
  • Scrolling up in the merged chat feed no longer means losing your place. A button at the foot of the feed says how many messages have arrived while you were reading, and takes you back to the newest when you click it.
  • FrankerFaceZ joins Twitch, 7TV and BetterTTV as an emote provider. Its global emotes and each channel's own FFZ emotes now render in every Streamline chat surface, and there is a FrankerFaceZ switch beside the other three in the Chat tab.
  • Highlights. Put a few rules on the Chat tab - your name, a keyword, or "badge:mod" for anyone holding a badge - and any message matching one is tinted in the merged chat feed. There is an optional sound, off by default.
  • A Mentions chip beside your channel chips shows only the messages matching your highlight rules, across every channel you have joined at once.
  • Channel filters understand "badge:mod", "badge:sub", "badge:vip" and "badge:any" too, so a channel can be filtered down to the people the streamer has given something to.
  • Every Streamline chat panel can now send messages. The overlay, the popped-out window, the floating window and the chat docked beside the grid all get a box under the merged feed, with a channel picker when the panel is following more than one chat. On the standard iFrame feed you keep using Twitch's own message box, unless you have turned that off with "Hide message input footer". You need to be logged into Twitch, and the popped-out window needs a Twitch tab open somewhere.
  • The Stats tab can now show this week, the last 30 days, or all time. Watch time is kept per day rather than as one running total, so the same record reads over any of the three, and the switch governs both figures at the top and the leaderboard under them. Totals recorded before this update do not carry over, so the Stats tab starts again from zero.
  • A twelve-week chart on the Stats tab shows the shape of your watching over time, one bar per week with the newest on the right. Hovering a bar gives its dates and its total.
  • Leaderboard rows do something now. Each one has buttons to open the channel, add it to the multi-stream grid, favourite it, or hide it, and a channel that is live right now carries a red dot.
  • Watch time exports as a proper file. CSV gives you a row per day and channel with the time spelled out, ready for a spreadsheet; JSON is the full record and carries the app version, your timezone and the range it covers. Both are named after the day you took them. The old export was a raw dump named after a number, and nothing could open it.
  • A JSON watch-time export can be imported back, which is how you carry your history to another browser. Days are merged by keeping the larger figure, so importing the same file twice changes nothing.

What's fixed

  • Chat opened inside a multi-stream grid cell now follows your chat settings like every other chat panel: the clean-up switches, your chat text size and your per-channel filters all apply to it, and its emotes come from the channel that cell is showing rather than the channel the page is on.
  • Chat inside a grid cell now loads on twitch.tv as well as www.twitch.tv, instead of showing an empty panel.
  • Closing a floating chat window now brings chat back to the page instead of closing the chat docked beside the multi-stream grid.
  • The Help Center no longer says that 7TV and BetterTTV badges are shown in chat. They never were, and the badges beside a name come from Twitch.
  • The "Hide chat scrollbar" switch now updates when the setting is changed from another window, instead of showing the old value until Streamline is reopened.
  • The popped-out chat window now shows a pill for every channel it is following, so channels from a saved side-by-side layout can be filtered, renamed and removed there like anywhere else.
  • Custom emotes and your chat text size now apply in the popped-out chat window, which was ignoring both.
  • Chat transparency now only fades the chat panel over the video, which is the one it was meant for. It no longer fades the chat docked beside the multi-stream grid, which has no transparency control of its own.
  • Dragging an edge of the overlay chat panel no longer snaps to a slightly different size partway through the drag. The panel now keeps the size under your cursor until you let go of it.
  • "Hide chat scrollbar" now also hides the scrollbar on the merged chat feed. It was the one chat surface still showing one, in every panel.
  • The channel prompt in the popped-out chat window is painted in Streamline's colours again, instead of falling back to the browser's own.
  • Messages no longer appear twice in the merged chat feed. A chat connection that was closing could be replaced without being shut down first, leaving two of them running, and every message then arrived once from each.
  • Watch time is measured properly now. It counts the time that actually passed rather than assuming a fixed amount per check, so a stream watched in a background tab is no longer recorded at roughly half its length, and a laptop closed on a Twitch tab no longer wakes up with a night of watching on it.
  • Watch time is only counted while a stream is playing. A paused stream, an offline channel page and a chat window left open overnight used to add to your totals at full rate.
  • Streams watched in the multi-stream grid now count towards your watch time and appear in your recent history. The grid recorded nothing at all before, so the Stats tab was blind to the feature most likely to be running.
  • Recent channel history now says how long each visit lasted, and one sitting on a channel is one entry instead of a new entry every time you glanced back at it.
  • With the style set to reach everything, Twitch chat opened inside a Streamline panel now takes the style the same way the chat column on the page does. Its Send button, its banners and its notices kept Twitch purple, so the same chat looked like two different things depending on which panel it was in.
  • The header and the message box of every Streamline chat panel now take the colours of the style you have chosen, the same as the messages between them. They were painted a fixed dark whatever style was set, so a light style gave a cream feed framed top and bottom in near-black. The overlay, the popped-out window, the floating window and the chat docked beside the multi-stream grid are all covered.
  • The channel picker under the merged chat feed no longer drops a dark menu over a light panel. Its list now follows the style like the rest of the bar.
  • Chat transparency no longer paints the overlay panel back to dark. Fading it now fades the colours of the style you have chosen.
  • The Help Center now describes the Stats tab accurately. It had claimed the watch-time clock watches the video player, that the leaderboard shows every channel you have watched with a viewing percentage, and that recent history records categories. None of those were true: the clock reads the page address, the leaderboard and the history list both show 15 entries, and no category is recorded.

1.1.0

What's new

  • The overlay chat panel can now be resized from its top edge and top corners, and a position above the Twitch navigation bar is kept when you move between pages.
  • The first time you open the panel, all four corners light up with a tip explaining you can drag any edge to resize it, and it keeps a small grip mark in the bottom right corner afterward.

What's fixed

  • The chat font size no longer resets to the default when you move or resize the overlay chat panel, and it no longer flickers on Firefox.
  • Changing the chat font size in one tab now updates the size readout in your other tabs too.
  • The chat font size now applies only to the Streamline chat panels, so it no longer resizes the chat sidebar built into Twitch.
  • Chat transparency no longer adds a faint text shadow to parts of the Twitch page outside the Streamline panels.
  • Resizing the overlay chat panel twice in quick succession no longer snaps it to a preset size - the size you drag to is the size you keep.
  • Hover preview and the sidebar channel previews now work as soon as the extension is installed, without needing to reload the Twitch page first.
  • Adding a stream to the grid from a hover preview now opens it on the first click, with its audio playing, instead of only working once a second stream is added.
  • The Twitch home page no longer goes blank when a second sidebar is open - shelves that have not finished loading are left in place instead of hidden.
  • Switching the popped-out chat between live and merged view no longer makes the window shrink and grow - it only changes size when you add or remove a channel.
  • Opening a popped-out chat after closing the multi-stream grid no longer mixes the grid streams into the merged feed with no matching channel pill.
